Final pieces for the third Wiley fun day

Thank you very much to all the Wileys’ folk who visited us for the 3 courses. On the second group we had a huge array of images from racing cars and sailing boats through to a beautiful autumnal leaf piece. Again there was a relaxed but creative feel to the day and when I opened the kiln and saw the results my breath was taken away as I had no idea a car could be made so beautifully with no. 3 frit and have you seen the kite surfer!

The last course had the advantage of seeing the pieces made by the previous groups but still found their very own creative ground. The amazing frit picture of St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow is stunning and then there are horses, fishes and some delicate pieces with softer colours. Please look below because the work speaks for itself. We knew from the first course we were going to have fun but it was a lovely surprise how much inspiration you have given us for ideas with future students – thank you and we hope you had as good time as we did.  Sue

PS A couple of these will be bowls so don’t worry if their looking a bit flat at the moment!

  1. Wiley fun day
So, 20 colleagues from Wiley took a step into the unknown and signed up to do a one day introduction to glass fusion. We were all novices, and had never worked with glass before. The result was an overwhelmingly positive experience. Everyone loved their day, and came away wanting more. The pieces that some of my colleagues produced were amazing. Everyone was pleasantly surprised by the end results, and although initially folk thought the finished pieces might end up as Xmas gifts, I think many of these gifts will now stay at home where they can be enjoyed. Sue and Vince were great on the day, explained things very clearly and helped all of us with ideas, advice, or support. Many of the 20 have spoken about doing a follow up course. For me personally, I sit in front of a computer looking at spreadsheets for most of the day; I wanted to do something creative and different. I really enjoyed the experience, loved the final pieces I produced, and would love to do some more. I would very much recommend the course to anyone who wants to have a go at something arty/creative, or just to do something different for a day. I am not arty myself, but thoroughly enjoyed my experience. A great day.
